In a letter to the Elector of Saxony on Dec.23.1534 ML is defending himself to the Elector against the charges of Duke Georg saying:dass H.Georg und die Seinen muessen fuenf Zippel am Sack haben." Can't define "Zippel".

"Zippel" refers to corners, ends, or points. The modern word is "Zipfel." So......it would be unusual for a sack to have 5 corners (instead of the normal 4). But what the metaphor refers to I don't know. Perhaps thinking he has more authority than he really has. Anyone else out there want to chime in?

Makes sense.Thank you! Or maybe adding the Archbishop to the Saxon relatives. Glad you're up and working after all the French and their delights.
