In a little letter of 30 June 1536 to Georg. Prince of Anhalt, ML requests him to relinquish the office of mediator between Antoninus Schenitz (Schoenitz)and the Cardinal of Mainz. Looks like there might be a castle and property in dispute. I am having trouble deciphering whether Albrecht wants to delay until the death of Schenitz and what is to be understood by "Stift".You'll probably get the drift of it and in your grace illuminate me. Do you think "condemn that Epicurus" would be accurate for "convictus iste Epicurus"?

Nice to hear from you. "tod yhn selbs oder vnser eins teils" refers to the death of Luther or Schönitz. "Stift" refers to "das neue Stift zu Halle als Körperschaft" which sounds like some kind of charitible foundation (and which will survive after Schönitz's death). And the Latin quote is "inüitis istis Epicüreis." Does this mean Epicüreis is useless??

That helps alot. I was thinking the delay meant ML's party might lose as I think Jonas was one of the mediatorrs. Yah, Stift , I think, sometimes means the Cathedral Church but what do I know? And I was puzzling on "convictus" and the meaning you have is possible but Albrecht is regarded a little more negatively by ML to put it mildly. And just remembered that ML has been thinking alot about dying lately. It is so kind of you to help me.
