On 13th March,1536 ML writes to the three princes of Anhalt regarding a property of Heinrich: Wondering if this is the Loche or Lochsheim around Worms? and: ML says that Heinrich "der gute Mann so lange in der Possession gewest und viel abgelegt"... Would "abgelegt" mean that he had given up much, let go, or the like? Would the little county of Anhalt have control of lands quite far away? Or does Heinrich have claims in Anhalt? And the answers are much appreciated though arcane.

If it makes any difference, the original spelling of "Loche" is "locha" as in Heinrich von der locha sachsen.
According to Duden Das große Wörterbuch der deutschen Sprache, the original Middle High German [which is close to "Luther German"] meaning of "ablegen" is "eine schuldige Summe bezahlen, d.h. das Geld für etwas niederlegen." So would it mean in this context that he invested a lot of money in it?
