Anyone want to translate the following from ML's letter of Sept.30,1535 to Gabriel Zwilling of Torgau?"Ich muss kommen, und Farchmutter auf der Kanzel die Borsten krauen."
Anyone want ML's knuckles rubbed on their beard?? or the like? but who?

I think it refers to preachers who are still loyal to the pope. Wild boar seems to be an insult.

Did anyone tell you how great you are! I thought it might have been one of ML"s scatological obscenities. Torgau said they would answer in January.
Have a Merry Christmas with the great Romney.
Just remembered there are bears in the Torgau moat.

Did the St.Louis Edition transpose "r" and "a" so that "Farchmutter" was meant to be "Frachmutter"?
Saw an entry that "scrofa" was sometimes used pejoratively of a woman.
Also remember the Pope's ban of ML said "a wild boar is loose in the vineyard" or the like.

Just read the following in Der Sprach Brock Haus under waschen:"Ich wasche ihm den Kopf, die Ohren U halte eine Strafpredigt" which would go along with "auf der Kanzel".

Sorry I misspelled it. It really is "Farchmutter". And a merry Christmas to you too!
