In a letter to Augustin Himmel, pastor in Colditz, on 5 April 1535 ML is requesting a benefit for a Wolfgang who is disabled and staying with him.Evidently, Himmel has charge of the Princes Pfruende. ML says Wolfgang is sending a little present to him "damit du das Grab Christi nicht umsonst bewachest." What can that mean? Is ML comparing the tunnels of the Colditz Castle to the grave of Christ? Or was there a relic there? Vain the stone, the watch, the seal;Christ has burst the bonds of death.

I couldn't hazard a guess but here is the original Latin quote.
Gratias aget Wolffius meus, non sine munere aliquantulo, [10] ne gratis sepulchrum Christi custodias.

Thanks for the Latin,Agnes. Doesn't look there can be any ambiquity about the sense.
